About the people behind the software

OK, so this isn't the blue door behind which we started out. The new residents have chosen a different colour, but the front door was once blue and that's how we got our name. Driven by a desire to bring first-class software to the third sector, find out where we've come from and where we are going.

Some history

We started writing software in 1996, and for the third sector in 2002. What began as a small Access database for a Women's refuge has grown into a full-time software development operation serving lots of different services in varied sectors.

In a nutshell

We're an independent software company that builds and licences desktop, web, and mobile software applications to third sector organisations across the UK. We also develop software for universities and colleges and the private sector.

The mission

To help organisations with challenging data recording and analysis requirements develop efficient, cost-effective and quality-centric software solutions.

The team

We're small in number, five technical staff and one office manager, but big on experience and expertise. We add and take away from this list depending on the work, but five is about the right number for most of our projects.

About Blue Door

Blue Door Software started out as an idea behind a real blue door in 2003. Over the last seven years we have created software applications for charities, not-for-profit organisations, academic institutions and SMEs.
